Cayenne is
used in combination with most herbs as catalysts. It is good for the health of
the elderly. In asthma it is used with other herbs, i.e. cayenne plus ginger,
garlic and honey. Cayenne has carminative action thereby stimulating
peristalsis of the digestive system. Very beneficial in the treatment of hypertension
as it helps to clean the arteries. Also used in the treatment of yellow fever.
A poultice of cayenne is used for relieving rheumatic pains. Cayenne is good for the kidney,
spleen and pancreas. Used also in lockjaw
and in stomach ulcer. For the treatment

Dick Quinn provides the following comprehensive
information on cayenne, the magic herb that cured his heart disease: Bright red fruit on a small perennial shrub
that blooms with white flowers in late summer. There are many varieties from
the most powerful pepper grown in Sierra Leone to
the mild paprika enjoyed in Hungary. One of the most effective stimulants,
cayenne targets the digestive and circulatory systems primarily. Cayenne regulates blood pressure, strengthens
the pulse, feeds the heart, lowers cholesterol, thins the blood, cleanses the
circulatory system, heals ulcers, stops hemorrhaging, speed healing of wounds,
rebuilds damaged tissues, eases congestion, aids digestion, regulates
elimination, relieves arthritis and rheumatism, prevents the spread of infection
and numbs pain. Cayenne stimulates every system and cell of the body. Valued as
an astringent, stimulant, and anti-bacterial agent. Acts as a diaphoretic to
iduce sweating, a rubefacient to increase circulation at the skin surface, and
a carminative to help prevent and eliminate gas. Used to stimulate the appetite
and promote the flow saliva which in turn aids digestion. Aids digestion and
soothes intestinal ailments by stimulating the stomach to produce mucus.
Cayenne helps the arteries, veins and capillaries regain the elasticity of
youth by feeding the cell structure. Helps to equalize circulation by
regulating the flow of the blood from the head to feet. Cayenne strengthens the
pulse by increasing the power, not the frequency. Generally boosts the overall
health of the entire cardo-vascular system. Diet helps cayenne’s ability to
help the body. Protein intake is therefore essential for cayenne to work
properly. Helps to thin blood and prevent blood clots. Stimulates the body’s fibrinolytic system to prevent clots forming
and dissolving clots that have already formed. The fibronolytic action is
temporary say 30 minutes only to prevent excessive bleeding in case of wounds.
Daily doses of cayenne keeps the fibrinolytic system operating efficiently. In
more ways than any other herbs, cayenne gets the blood moving. Touted as the
purest and most certain stimulant known to man, cayenne is considered to be one
of the best crisis herbs. Cayenne boosts the energy level and eases damages
effect of stress on the body. Cayenne stimulating effect is immediate but
transient. In experience on human subjects, cayenne was found to increase the
subject’s ability to concentrate. The stimulant and anti-fatigue effects were
found to be immediate, temporary and harmless. Cayenne helps faster
assimilation of nutrients in food ingested with cayenne. Cayenne itself
contains many nutrients essential to the health of the circulatory system, and
these include alpha-tocopherols, vitamin C and minerals. Also contains high
amount of vitamin A (beta-carotene), which helps in healing ulcers. The redder
the red pepper the more vitamin A it contains. Cayenne holds more vitamin
C and beta-carotene than any other plant
in the garden. Cayenne’s high minerals content includes sulphur, iron, calcim,
magnesium and phosphorus which makes it effective treatment for
diabetes, gas, arthritis, pancreatic and throat disorders. Acts as a catalysts.
Cayenne intensifies the beneficial effects of other herbs ensuring speedy
thorough distribution of the herb’s active components to the important
functional centers of the body such as
those responsible for metabolism, data transmission, cellular
respiration and neutral hormonal activity. A little bit of cayenne goes a long
way. Since just a small quantity of cayenne dramatically increase the
efficiency of most herbs, the catalyst herb is added t nearly added to every
herbal combination available. Added to garlic for example, cayenne speeds up
the antibiotic action of other herbs. Cayenne boosts the power of garlic so
much it is akin to taking liquid penicillin. Together, garlic and cayenne lower
blood pressure safely and rapidly. Cayenne is used in formulas for pain relief,
infection, respiratory ailments, female problems, and thyroid balance and heart
treatments. Cayenne is an ingredient in laxatives, diuretics and ulcer
medications. Added to ginger, cayenne helps clean out the bronchial tubes. The
addition of cayenne to any herbal formula speeds the formula. Cayenne is used
to soothe gas , diarrhea, asthma and toothaches. Proven effective in healing
gastric ulcers. Recommended as gargle for sore throat and hangover. Can be
added to fruit juice such as grape fruits, orange, carrots, lemons, lime,
cucumber, etc. Externally cayenne is effective pain killer or anesthetics. Used
in poultices as an irritant or counter-irritant. Exposure to cayenne can cause
pain but prolonged exposure deadens
pains, including arthritis, rheumatism and bursitis. One remedy for arthritis
entails rubbing cayenne tincture on the inflamed joint, wrapping tightly in red
flannel and letting it rest the night. One of the most powerful cures for hemorrhoids.
Application of cayenne ointments brings relief from hemorrhoids. Cayenne has
been applied dry on wounds to relieve pains. Applied to wounds it acts as both
analgesic and antibiotic. Application of cayenne to wounds can kill bacteria,
anesthetize the pain, and according to folklore expel foreign objects. A little
cayenne goes a long way. Cayenne is an essential herb the powdered form of which
should be available on the dining table to adds to cereals, soups and stews
when at table. As noted elsewhere part of the reason of coming out with this
book is the urge to tell my experience with cayenne and other wonderfully
simple herbs.
