Cholera is a highly infectious disease caused by the cholera
bacteria. Symptoms include acute diarhoea and vomiting. The stool is
watery like rice water. Sufferers should be quarantined as the disease
is highly infectious. Seek hospital treatment immediately. Herbal
remedies include lemon juice. A decoction of guava root bark stops the
diarhoea and vomiting.
To prepare the decoction, boil 30gm of root
bark in half a liter of water till the water is reduced to 1/3. Take
twice daily. Onions, coconut water (immature coconut), black pepper
(Iyere, Yoruba), cloves (kanafuru, Yoruba), and nutmeg are also helpful.
Grind them and mix with the coconut water and take one shot thrice
daily.
Coconut water alone should be freely taken to prevent shock
and dehydration. A cholera formula is: aloe vera gel mixed with the
juices of lemon, lime, grape fruit and and blended with ground garlic
and ginger. Make a paste of the combination and take 2 tablespoon thrice
daily.
