MEDICINAL USES OF GENTIAN ROOT

Botanical name: Gentiana lutea
Other name: bitter root
Parts used: roots, leaves
Medicinal properties: stomachic, tonic, anthelminthic, anti-bilious
Uses
Gentian root is said to be tonic, purifies blood, good for liver complaints, jaundice, dysentery, good for spleen, improves appetite, strengthens digestive organs, good for gastritis, indigestion, heartburn and stomach ache. Take it 30-60 minutes before meal. Increases circulation, improves female organs invigorates entire system. Good for fever (better than quinine), convulsion, dyspepsia, as worm expeller, for suppressed menses and scanty urine. It is said to allay poisons from mad dogs, insect, snake bites. Take 1/4 - 1/2 teaspoon of powder in cup of water thrice daily 30 minutes before meal.
