Grows up to 3 feet tall. Has lush green
leaves. But the only part that is used medicinally is the root. The root
contains high content of mustard oil. Has natural healing ability that is
favorable in aromatherapy. To make
mustard oil from the root: grate the root. When you do this, the fluid and
enzymes flow to form mustard oil. The oil is said to have the following
medicinal uses: Mix mustard oil with honey to relieve symptoms of flu, like
sore throat. To make horse radish vinegar: take a medium size of the root and
grate. Put the grated horseradish into four cups of vinegar and let stand for
2-3 weeks in a cool dry place. Strain and use on face twice daily for 3 weeks
to fade age spot and freckles. The horse radish vinegar may also be taken
orally to improve blood circulation and to help regulate blood pressure. Horse
radish contain many anti-bacterial agents that are good for preventing
infections. To ward off infection drink 1 cup of horse radish tea thrice daily.
To prepare tea take 1 cup of boiling water and mix with 1 teaspoon of grated
horse radish and let stand for 10 minutes. Then strain. To aid digestion and
relieve gas and bloating mix ½ teaspoon of grated horse radish and 1 cup of
warm milk and stir. Drink the milk after meals to aid digestion and prevent
bloated feeling.
