ABDOMINAL HEAT

Lower abdominal heat in women is often the cause of inability to get pregnant or spontaneous abortion. This condition can be remedied by taking the juice of balsam pear, also called African cucumber (Momordica charantia). Squeeze the juice of the herbs in water and drink a shot twice daily. Other useful herbs include African spnach (Amaranthus viridis), false thistle (Acanthus montanus) plumbago (plumbago zeylanica) (inabiri Yoruba), common purslane (Portulaca oleracea) and dodder (Cuscuta australis) (onigelegele, Yoruba). Aristolchia (Akogun, Yoruba) taken as a decoction or infusion is useful in treating abdominal pains generally. The leaves of Terademia riparia may be squeezed and used to treat abdominal cramps in babies. Take 2 – 3 drops for baby’s abdominal cramps. Juice of half – ripe tomato is good for abdominal pains. Abodminal pains in pregnancy may be remedied by alfalfa, stinging nettle and raspberry. As always caution must be exercised before taking anything in pregnancy. For internal heat generally boiling a mixture of cashew leaves and yellow pawpaw leaves and taking 1 glassful twice daily is helpful.
